The Prayerful Pause - September 16

Our theme for this Church year is “Seeking to Love like Jesus.” This week, our Bible study groups are discussing the importance of loving God above all else. So today, I wanted to share a love note prayer to God. Would you pause today and tell God how much you love him? You can use the prayer below or create one of your own. Jesus loves you, Union Family, and I do too!

Gracious and Loving God,

Today I simply want to tell you that I love you. Your love is deeper, wider, and higher than I can imagine, yet you fill my entire life with your steadfast love day by day. My great God, you love without limits or conditions. We are so grateful that your love never gives up on us.

Lord, thank you for loving me first. Thank you for knowing every part of me, even the parts I do not fully understand or find easy to accept, and for still calling me your beloved child.

Thank you for being patient with me when I am tired and overwhelmed. I am grateful that you keep showing me mercy when I fall short, and for staying close when I cannot see what lies ahead. I am so thankful that I never have to walk through life alone.

I love you for the beauty you have placed in the world. Thank you for the morning light, for laughter around the table, for the comfort of familiar voices, and for those quiet moments when my heart finally slows down enough to remember that you are near. Thank you for the people you have given me to love and for carrying me through hard seasons and all the while continuing to give me hope.

Help me love you with more than just my words. Continue to shape me so that the love you so freely give me becomes the love that I offer to others. Teach me to share your love with kindness, forgiveness, patience, and grace.

When I am anxious, remind me that I am safely held in your loving arms. When I am discouraged, remind me that you are faithful and that you will carry me through whatever comes. And when I am joyful, help me remember that every good gift comes from you.

Thank you most of all for Jesus, who shows us the depth of your love and invites us into a relationship with you. May I grow each day in your love, grace, and in my desire to reflect your love in the world.

I place myself in your loving hands today. Teach me to love you with all that I have and all that I am. Thank you for loving me, Lord. I love you, too.

In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
